The Smallest Countries In The World

Every country on Earth is responsible for claiming, marking, and protecting the borders it establishes. A handful of nations have stood their ground or inherited minuscule chunks of land on behalf of their unique history of diplomacy, victory, or geography. For instance, island nations are typically small, and their government's jurisdictions end on their coastlines. Still, exceptions like Hispaniola exist, wherein Haiti and the Dominican Republic share a moderately large island. The Vatican is officially the world's smallest country with a compact 0.19 square miles (0.49 square kilometers) of total area. The following tiniest countries are Monaco (0.77 mi2), Nauru (8.1 mi2), and Tuvalu (10 mi2). However, to break things down, the world's smallest countries are sorted here, in terms of total area, by the continents they inhabit.

Chad faces significant security challenges due to internal conflicts and a threat from extremist groups. The volatile security situation, combined with poor infrastructure and the harsh desert climate, make it one of the most unfriendly countries in the world.

25 Most Unfriendly Countries in the World - Insider

It's important to note that perceptions of friendliness can vary greatly from person to person, and the notion of an "unfriendly country" can be subjective. However, based on various sources and surveys, here is a list of 10 countries that have been commonly associated with being less friendly to visitors:

  1. North Korea: Due to its isolationist policies and strict control over visitors, North Korea is often seen as an unfriendly country.
  2. Saudi Arabia: The strict interpretation of Islamic law and cultural differences can create challenges for visitors, particularly in terms of gender segregation and restrictions on personal freedoms.
  3. Russia: While Russians can be friendly and welcoming, there are instances where language barriers, cultural differences, and a reserved demeanor might give the impression of unfriendliness.
  4. Venezuela: Political instability, high crime rates, and economic challenges have led to a perception that Venezuela is less friendly to visitors.
  5. Kuwait: Cultural differences and conservative social norms can make it challenging for foreigners to feel completely at ease in Kuwait.
  6. Pakistan: While many visitors have positive experiences in Pakistan, the country's security concerns, political tensions, and cultural differences have contributed to its reputation as being less friendly.
  7. Iran: Iran's political climate and cultural differences may create difficulties for visitors. However, it's worth noting that Iranians are generally warm and hospitable towards tourists.
  8. Bolivia: Bolivia's cultural and language barriers, coupled with social and political tensions, can sometimes give the impression of an unfriendly environment.
  9. Latvia: Cultural differences and language barriers may contribute to a perception of unfriendliness, particularly in rural areas.
  10. France: While France is a popular tourist destination, the stereotype of French people being unfriendly, particularly in Paris, has persisted over the years. However, it's important to remember that this is a generalization and does not apply to everyone.

Again, it's crucial to recognize that these perceptions are subjective and can vary from person to person. Many factors can influence how friendly or unfriendly a country may seem, including personal experiences, cultural differences, and individual expectations.

What month is McGill graduation?

McGill has two convocation periods each year - one in the Spring (May/June) and one in the Fall (October/November).

Apply to Graduate - McGill University

How many guests can you have at McGill convocation?

Guests and Seating

Graduates are able to invite 4 guests to their ceremony. There are no tickets for guests at the ceremony venue and we ask graduates to use the honour system and respect the maximum 4-guest policy. The ceremonies are live-streamed so additional family and guests can watch from venues off campus. Seats at the ceremony venue are assigned on a first-come first-served basis. Please see the Guests section of the FAQ page if you have any questions.

The Venue

Spring Convocation ceremonies are held under a tent on the lower field of McGill University's Downtown Campus, with the exception of the ceremonies for the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, which are held at the University's Macdonald Campus, in the Centennial Ballroom. Please use Google Maps to determine the best route to access both the Downtown and Macdonald campuses.

Every year, the Convocation Tent is erected just beyond the Roddick Gates on McGill's lower west field, indicating the beginning of the convocation season. The tent has a capacity of 3,000 seats for graduates, families and guests. With the view of Mount Royal and the scenery of Montreal surrounding them, new graduates will cross the stage and receive their hard-earned diplomas.

Getting to the Venue

Metro/Bus

The McGill metro station is located close to McGill's downtown campus on the green line, providing a convenient option for getting to the university. This is the simplest and most recommended mode of transportation when attending convocation.

Public transportation in the city is handled by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM).

Fares:

$3.50 for one trip; $6.50 for two.
Unlimited evening pass (6:00pm-5:00am): $5.75.
Day pass (24 hours): $11.00.
3-day pass: $21.25.
Unlimited weekend pass: $14.75.

Learn more about STM transit fares.

If you are arriving from the airport on the 747 bus, you will already possess a 24-hour day metro/bus pass. Guests arriving by airplane can consult this website for information on how to get to the city from the airport.

Bike share

Bixi is a public bicycle-sharing program originating in Montreal. The base rate of unlocking a bike for a one-way pass costs $1.25, plus an extra fee of 15 cents per minute while riding a regular bike or 30 cents per minute while riding an electric one. Bikes can be checked out and subsequently returned to any of the hundreds of parking stations in the city, including one just outside of McGill Service Point on McTavish Street.

Parking

The best option is to leave your car at home and avoid the traffic in the city core. Montreal has many one-way streets and traffic customs you may be unfamiliar with. All street signs will be in French. There is no parking on the McGill Downtown Campus.

Accessibility

Convocation is committed to being as accessible and barrier-free as possible for students, faculty, and guests. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs or require accommodations to participate by filling out the Request for Accessibility Accommodation webform.

Both the Convocation Tent at the Downtown Campus and Centennial Centre at the Macdonald Campus are wheelchair-accessible. If required, a ramp is available at both venues for students to enter and exit the stage. For the Downtown Campus ceremonies, we advise that guests with mobility needs be taken to the Roddick Gates- the main entrance to campus located on Sherbrooke street west. This is the closest entrance to the Convocation Tent. At the Roddick Gates, ushers will be on hand to assist guests, and a limited number of wheelchairs are also available.

Please note that there is no parking on campus. We invite you to view the McGill Accessibility Guide for our Downtown Campus and Macdonald Campus for information on access to McGill buildings and accessible washrooms on campus. At the Downtown Campus, there is an accessible washroom attached to the Convocation Tent. At Macdonald Campus, there are accessible washrooms on the 1st floor of the Centennial Centre.

Be vàng, trăng sáng vào rọi mãi.

Bản dịch của Trần Duy Vôn

Trên trời trăng có đã bao lâu?
Ta nín hơi men hỏi mấy câu;
Trắng tỏ người nguyên vin chả được,
Người đi trăng cứ nhẩn theo sau;
Trong như miếng kính bên lầu ngọc,
Khói tạnh thanh huy mới rõ mầu;
Mặt biển những trông khi tối mọc,
Cõi đời nào biết lúc mờ đâu;
Xuân thu đã lộn chầy con thỏ,
Chị cuội cùng ai dãi gót đầu;
Trăng cũ người nay nào kẻ biết,
Trăng nay người cũ vẫn soi nhau;
Người nay người cũ chừng bao chốc,
Soi bóng trăng già vẫn thế âu;
Những ước khi ca cùng lúc ẩm,
Trăng soi một mảnh, rượu lưng bầu.

Chính Chính Tà Tà Đâu Mới Là Sự Thật

https://youtu.be/WSZG5m-40sI
